Circa 1928-1930.
I am pleased to offer this wonderful timepiece from my special collection - a vintage Hamilton Barrel presentation watch awarded to and owned by William "Bill" R. Breckinridge from the Philadelphia Athletics for winning the 1929 World Series against the Chicago Cubs! According to production records, only 213 Hamilton Barrel models were available in sterling silver. The dial and hands are gracefully aged and the watch itself sets and winds smoothly. Fitted with new I.W. genuine lizard straps in dark brown and a new glass crystal, the plain bezel is accompanied by a detailed grain pattern that is prominent on the sides of the case. The watch is signed Hamilton on the dial, movement, and case. The inside of the snap back case reads: H, 6/0, Wadsworth, Sterling, 0378955 and the middle section has a corresponding serial number of 8955. Underneath the dial is a genuine Hamilton 6/0 size grade 987 manual hand winding movement with 17 jewels that kept good time over a 24 hour period. Serial on movement: 2261056. This watch measures approximately 28mm in width (excluding the crown) x 34mm from lug end to lug end.
