Named after Otis Bryan, a former Vice President and chief pilot of TWA pilot and was at the controls of the Douglas C-54 transport which flew President Roosevelt and his party to the historic Casablanca summit in which two Hamilton's navigated the flight. Otis was a long time friend and skeet shooting friend of Ross Atkinson, the Vice President of Hamilton and in 1938 the Hamilton Otis was named after him.
Presented here is a genuine vintage Hamilton Otis with a "Reverso" case that allows the case to be switched between dial-side visible or hidden by simply sliding the case to the right and then effortlessly flipping it over. Constructed of a 14K natural yellow gold-filled case and a refinished black dial with 18K applied gold numerals, this timepiece was designed as a sports watch to protect the dial and crystal during outdoor activities. Resting beneath the dial is a size 14/0 grade 980 manual hand winding movement with 17 jewels that has been recently serviced and kept good time over a 24 hour period. The inside of the back case reads: Hamilton W. Co., Lancaster PA., 14K GoldFilled, 384416. This watch measures approx. 25mm in width (minus the crown) x 40mm from lug tip to tip. This watch includes brand new genuine lizard straps in brown with a gold-tone tang style clasp and a new glass crystal.
