Circa 1930s.
Offered here is an extremely rare uncatalogued model called the "Rectangular" in an 18K hand-chased white gold case with a hard enamel exploding numeral dial coupled with steel blued skeleton hands. The difference between engraving and chasing is that in engraving there is removal of metal content vs. chasing where material is pushed and molded, but nothing is removed from the case. This handsome Art-Deco inspired case measures at approximately 28mm wide x 39mm in overall length which would have been considered large compared to other watches from that era. Beneath the dial is a genuine Hamilton 6/0 size grade 987 manual hand wind movement with 17 jewels that has been serviced and runs exceptionally well over a 24 hour bench test period. The snap-back case is hinged to a movement tray that also showcases ornate hand-chased corners as seen in the photos. The inside back case reads: Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster P.A., 18K, 583790. Out of all the Hamilton "geometric" models such as the Square, Tonneau, Oval, Barrel, etc., the Rectangular model is almost never seen available on the market so don't let this one slip away!
