Hamilton was commissioned in 1966 to make the prop watch for Stanley Kubrick's "2001-A Space Odyssey" movie. Hamilton made a commemorative version of the watch beginning in 1969. In the 2000's, Hamilton reissued this watch in a commemorative edition limited to 2001 pieces, with four quartz movements in a case made of titanium and silicon strap with folding Hamilton signed clasp. This watch is numbered 1204/2001. The crown at 3 adjusts the time and date. The crown at 4 unscrews to adjust the inner rotating bezel. The three movements at the base of the watch are independent quartz movements that can be set to HT (home time), DPT (dream place time), and GMT (Greenwich mean time). These three movements can be adjusted using a magnetic wand that is hidden in the folding clasp of the watch. The case measures approximately 36mm wide x 77mm from lug end to lug end. The inner and outer boxes are original but the cushion holding the watch is a replacement.
