Circa 1940.
Another rare bird is this Hamilton Touraine (produced for only 1 year) in a 14K natural gold case with applied gold dots with black enamel numerals on a sterling silver dial. It is believed that the Touraine was named after the famous landmark in Philadelphia dating back to 1917 designed as a hotel by architect Frederick Webber, who was inspired by New York City's Park Avenue and the Chicago School architectural style. The blued steel alpha hands look sharp against the light dial and are correct for the timepiece. This watch measures approximately 24mm wide (excluding the crown) x 35mm from lug end to lug end. This remarkable timepiece is in superb condition and crown sets and winds smoothly. Beneath the dial is a grade 982 Medallion series manual hand winding movement with 19 jewels that has been cleaned, oiled, and kept good time over a 24 hour period. The inside back case reads: Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster PA., 14K Gold, L&W, 108983
