Featured here is a vintage Elgin Thorndale comprised of a 10K rolled gold plated top and stainless steel back. It's uncertain if the case design with its serrated sides was inspired by the English Ivy Thorndale plant (hence the name) or that of a Christmas holly (as this model was released in December of 1953) but it sure is a very unique timepiece. The case measures approximately 26mm wide (excluding the crown) x 36mm in overall length. Beneath the dial is a genuine Elgin grade 683 manual hand winding movement with 17 jewels that runs strong and has been timed for 24 hours. The inside back case reads: 6734, Cased and Timed By Elgin National Watch Co., Wadsworth. Stainless Steel, F905660. This watch sets and winds smoothly and includes a new acrylic crystal and brand new lizard straps in brown. *NS
