Circa 1928-1933.
This is a beautiful watch, the Hamilton Hastings, made of 14k Solid white gold.  According to the Hamilton records, only 1413 of these were produced in white gold of which 287 came with grade 979 movements.  This was released in the late 1920's and was advertised for "The Sportsman."  The watch features a solid gold case with a ribbed side case design, a dial with luminous numerals and skeleton hands with a large sub-seconds chapter with a sub-seconds hand.  The case looks sharp with no signs of wear and no brassing on the bezel and the watch sets and winds smoothly.  Beneath the dial is a genuine Hamilton grade 979-F manual hand winding movement with 19 jewels that has been cleaned, oiled, and kept good time over a 24 hour period.  The inside back case reads: H, 6/0, Wadsworth, Quality, 14 Karat Solid Gold, 0166110.  The case measures approximately 28mm (excluding the crown) x 34mm from lug end to lug end.  A brief history of the case maker. The Wadsworth Watch Case Co was located in Newport, KY and came into existence in 1892. Harry Arthur Wadsworth, at the age of 26, had moved from New York City to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1886, going to work at the watch case firm Duhme & Co. Prior to 1889, he moved across the Ohio River to Newport, KY and worked at the Dueber Watch Case Manufacturing Co. Harry then became a partner with J.H. Stegman and they formed the case making firm of H.A. Wadsworth Co in 1889, also in Newport. Three years later, the company became incorporated as The Wadsworth Watch Case Co. It remained in business for 61 years, until purchased by the Elgin National Watch Co. in 1953.
