Circa 1948-1953.
It's not often that you'll come across diamond dial Hamiltons these days let alone an impressive vintage Hamilton Glenn such as this in a 14K solid gold case with 11 diamonds set on a sterling silver dial. This extravagant timepiece was the expensive version of the Glenn with a suggested retail price of $350 back in the early 1950s which would be roughly equivalent to $3,580.56 today. Measuring at approximately 26mm wide (excluding the crown) x 38mm from lug end to lug end, the case is in excellent condition with no wear or brassing on the bezel high points or ribbed lugs. There are no personalized engravings on the outer back case and overall very light scratches are seen when viewed with a loupe. The alpha style silver tone hands are true to form as well as the subsecond hand. Signed Hamilton on the dial, movement, and case, this watch sets and winds smoothly powered by a grade 747 manual hand winding movement with 17 jewels that has been cleaned, oiled, and timed for 24 hours. Serial on movement: Y358049. The inside back case reads: GLENN, Hamilton W.Co., Lancaster PA., 14K Gold, S957423, S&W. Brand new geniune lizard straps in black are by I.W. Suisse and the acrylic crystal is newly fitted as well.
