The Hamilton Van Horn is a highly collectible vintage timepiece originally released in 1957 as one of the world's first battery-powered electric watches. While the Van Horn was most commonly produced in 14K gold, rare 18K models (often in rose or pink/coral gold) are highly prized by collectors. This excellent case features distinctive flared downward-sloping lugs, a stepped bezel, and an aesthetic that matched the era's mid-century modernism. The 18K Hamilton Van Horn was only sold via export outside the US in both 18K yellow and 18K rose. The original sterling silver dial has 14K gold numerals and markers with a pearled track. Beneath the dial is a Hamilton 505 electric movement which is in perfect running order and keeps accurate time with a new battery installed. This timepiece is quadruple signed as seen on the case, crown, movement, and dial. The inside back case reads: Hamilton W. Co. 18K, Lancaster PA., S290422, S&W. Case measurements are approximately 35mm x 44mm from lug end to lug end.
