Circa 1957-1962.
The Hamilton Ventura is a highly coveted mid-century icon, famously known as the world’s first electric watch when it was released on January 3, 1957. Designed by Richard Arbib, its futuristic, asymmetrical "boomerang" case remains an unmistakable staple. While many vintage and modern variations of the Ventura exist, the original 18K solid gold models are incredibly rare as a majority of vintage versions were produced in 14K gold while modern re-editions utilized gold plating. This asymmetric timepiece is in outstanding condition, featuring a 505 electric movement and a new battery included. The unpolished 18K solid gold case remains in excellent condition with well-defined lines. The black dial with 14K gold dots is original to this watch, and the Dauphine style hands along with the red-tipped sweep seconds hand are all authentic to the design. This Ventura case was produced by S&W and is inscribed with: Hamilton W. Co., 18K, Lancaster PA, S386403, S&W. The case dimensions are approximately 31mm in width (excluding the crown) and 45.5mm from lug end to lug end.
