Considered one of the rarest timepieces in Hamilton's Grade 980/982 lineup, the "Model A" stands out among collectors for its exclusivity and unique design attributes. Produced around 1943, this model was never officially cataloged but is mentioned in Hamilton’s production records alongside other special variants. Essentially a version of the "Bentley" model, the "Model A" is distinguished by its traditional lugs instead of tube lugs and features a Grade 982M movement. This timepiece is housed in a 14K solid yellow gold case featuring a refinished dial consisting of 18K gold applied numerals. The production run for this rare watch lasted approximately six months in 1943, with only approximately 190 units manufactured—making surviving examples exceptionally scarce. This particular piece remains in superb condition, with sharp, well-preserved case edges and no visible wear. The unengraved caseback is in excellent shape, further enhancing its appeal. Beneath the dial is a genuine Hamilton grade 982M movement with 19 jewels that has been recently serviced, ensuring both authenticity and performance. Measuring 21mm wide x 39mm in length, the watch is complemented by a newly installed glass crystal for optimal clarity and preservation.
