Circa 1960-1961.
Featured here is an iconic asymmetric model produced by Hamilton called the Hamilton Flight I with its space age designed case. Introduced in 1960, the Flight I came in a 14K solid gold case with 14K gold numerals, markers, and dots on a sterling silver dial. Designed by automotive designer Richard Habib hired by Hamilton Watch Company to produce watch designs, the honeycomb styled lugs give it a "forward look" which was meant to imply motion. Hamilton made a few asymmetric watches that greatly resembled the styling of the Hamilton Electrics. However, they were fitted with mechanical movements. Both the Flight I and Flight II are hard to come by and very collectable by all watch collectors, not just Hamilton enthusiasts. Around 500 Flight I watches were produced, making it a scarce find. Beneath the dial is a high grade 770 manual hand winding movement with 22 jewels that has been serviced and kept good time over a 24 hour period. The inside back case reads: Hamilton W. Co., Lancaster PA., 14K Gold, P279551, Star W.C. Co. Case measurements are approximately 34mm at the widest point x 35mm in overall length.
