Here we have a vintage Hamilton Sherwood T in a 10K yellow gold-filled round case coupled with a teakwood on brass backed dial. This exquisite wristwatch comes with the original GEMEX branded bracelet with wood inserts to match, a very hard to find combination. These mahogany wood dial watches were all made with brass dials unlike most every other Hamilton watch that were made with a sterling silver dial. In 1961, the head of Hamilton's styling department, Jean-Pierre Hold proposed a watch with a wood dial. How the idea first came to fruition, no one knows. The idea was met with acceptance and was turned over to the research and development department to be transformed into reality. The project fell into the arms of Martin Ryan and HD "Chip" Weeks and the rest is history, as these two individuals made Mr. Hold's dream come true, along with other hard working staff at the Hamilton factory. The movement is a strong running Hamilton grade 735 manual hand winding movement with 18 jewels that has been serviced and kept good time over a 24 hour period. The inside back case reads: Hamilton W. Co, Lancaster PA., 10K Goldfilled, S687084, S&W. The watch sets and winds smoothly and is quadruple signed by Hamilton as seen on the crown, movement, dial, and case. This watch measures approximately 34mm wide (excluding the crown) x 44mm from lug end to lug end.
