Circa 1964.
Featured here is a vintage Hamiltom M-Series watch called the M 79-4 with a 10K rolled gold plated bezel and stainless steel back. The M-series watches were a different line of watches produced by Hamilton in the early to mid 1960s where the model numbers were actually the retail price followed by the production number for the model of that price. In this case, the M 79-4 would have originally retailed at $79 and was the fourth model released at the $79 price point. The sterling silver dial has a sunburst finish and looks great with Rhodium numerals, etched markers, and baton style hands that are true to form. Hamilton is quadruple signed as seen on the dial, crown, case, and movement. The crystal features a unique faceted reflective edge that glimmers with the light at different angles. Powering this watch is a Hamilton grade 686 manual hand winding movement with 17 jewels that runs strong and kept great time over a 24 hour period. The watch sets and winds smoothly and comes with the original band for this timepiece. The inside back case reads: Hamilton W. Co., Lancaster PA., 10K RGP Bezel, Stainless Steel Back, R787825, Star W.C.Co., 921365. The watch measures approximately 27mm wide x 33mm in overall length.
